Bruce Teague is the father of Juan Teague and uncle to Wytedgurie “Terri” Murry. He was born in Paris, Tennessee, and moved to Chicago in the 1950’s making the West Side his home. In 1959, he married Mary Hargrove and raised six children in the Austin neighborhood.

Bruce with no formal education, raised and took care of his family. He worked two jobs, started a towing business, and was a Deacon at Mt. Carmel Holiness Church. He fixed cars for many people, his extended family, and friends. He was a pillar on Washington/Cicero, in the community, and the Teague and Hargrove Families!

Bruce passed away on April 7, 2016. There was no street or holiday named after or in honor of him. Juan and Terri wanted to make sure his name was not forgotten, so The Bruce was created in his honor.

The Bruce is a Minority owned and Women owned venue; to serve and help the community by bringing jobs/careers to people in Austin.
